Lord Notary: Kindness Of Strangers

Hours after my dog had surgery, I drove two hours to Baldwin Hills to help a young man with his parents’ Powers of Attorney for health and financial. My eyes were swollen shut from crying and I’m sure it was obvious to all I was upset.  

The young man’s girlfriend asked me what was wrong and I was honest. We proceeded to take care of the paperwork, and as I walked out to my car “Gabby” followed me. She said “I don’t know if you are religious, and it doesn’t really matter if you aren’t, but we are, and I want to give you this bracelet to keep you protected and watched over. She said even if it falls off, carry it with you and it will ward off negativity.”

They tenderly put it on my wrist and I was so moved, i threw my arms around her and hugged her with gratitude before I drove home. Never underestimate the kindness of strangers.  

I’m honored when I am able to help others but it was nice to have the shoe on the other foot.
